Saturday 24th July 2010 saw eleven members of County Antrim Harriers travel to Dervock to take part in the Kennedy Kane McArthur Half Marathon and 10K road races.
One club member Jonathan Turner took part in the Half Marathon, while the remaining ten members Helen Baird, Irene Downey, Gillian Hanna, Jim Hodgens, Greg Hopkins, Naomi Hoy, Ricky Mason, Michael Matthews, Christine Murray & Glen Wilson opted for the 10K. Both races started at 2pm in Dervock and followed the same route for approximately 3.5miles before the 10K runners turned off, while the Half Marathon continued uphill and out into the countryside.
The first runner to cross the finish line for CAH in the 10K was Glen Wilson (44:52) closely followed by Michael Matthews (45:06) and then Christine Murray (45:37) who collected the prize for 2nd Female overall. Next home was Ricky Mason (46:54), Greg Hopkins (50:40) and then Irene Downey (52:37) who collected the prize for 3rd Female Overall. A light rain was now beginning to fall but didnt deter the next three ladies across the line Helen Baird (55:39), Naomi Hoy (55:53) and Gillian Hanna (57:32)pb, who was closely followed by Jim Hodgens (58:43) who has just returned after a rest period.
With all the 10K runners home and the rain coming down quite heavily, the Half Marathon runners began to cross the finish line, with CAH's Ultra Marathon Runner Jonathan Turner completing the course in 1:47:00.
Congratulations to all who took part on this challanging course.
